Safe and lawful use
The skipper and crew remain responsible for navigation, watchkeeping, collision regulations, under-keel clearance, weather, tides, pilotage, local rules, vessel suitability and safety equipment. Check every passage against current official charts, Notices to Mariners, forecasts, tide information and local advice. Never use Tide and Seek as the only means of navigation or emergency response.
Data limitations
Maps, depth shading, contours, marine places, seamarks, tide calculations, current and wind forecasts, AIS targets, GNSS positions, routes and estimates can be incomplete, delayed, stale, coarsely modelled, misaligned or wrong. Source labels and visual precision do not make data authoritative. Modelled course-to-steer indications are planning estimates, not helm commands.
Private sharing
Keep voyage codes, QR invitations, private links and read-only observer links confidential. Share another person’s position, contact or medical information only with their knowledge and for the active voyage. End sharing when coordination is complete.
Availability and field-test status
The apps and website are field-test software and may change, fail, be delayed or be withdrawn. Features depend on device sensors, permissions, battery, radio and data coverage, third-party providers and data licences. Offline availability is limited to material successfully cached and permitted for that use.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, the service is supplied without warranties and Holt Racing Limited is not responsible for decisions made as though forecast, chart, mapping, depth, tide, current, AIS or location information were authoritative.
